Children with disabilities in Ghana face significant challenges in accessing inclusive education, with one in five never having attended school. Factors such as long distances to school, lack of infrastructure, and unfavourable learning environments contribute to erratic attendance and high dropout rates.
This issue is particularly pronounced in West Africa, including Southern Ghana’s Cape Coast. The award-winning ANOPA Project, an NGO based in Cape Coast, seeks to address these challenges by promoting community sensitisation through sports, quality education, and vocational training. Their efforts include increasing interactions between disabled and non-disabled persons to foster inclusion and understanding.
The RYTHM Foundation, the QI Group’s social impact initiative, supports ANOPA’s sports-focused educational programmes, including training in swimming, basketball, and volleyball.
This collaboration also extends to providing free vocational and technical training in Ghana’s central region. Through this partnership, ANOPA has made a significant impact, with increased student engagement and confidence in activities like running, football, and singing.
Joy News TV put together an exclusive report on RYTHM and it’s partnership with ANOPA. This extensive report highlights what the Partnership has achieved and the 2nd phase of the partnership.
